Akira Rabelais’ Christmas Mix
I’m currently listening to Akira Rabelais’ Christmas ambient mix — which can be downloaded here until Christmas day — and find it perfect listening for a quiet Sunday morning. The mix is based on the same source material used for Rabelais’ 2005 album Spellewauerynsherde: field recordings of Icelandic a cappella lament songs recorded in the late 1960s/early 1970s which were then manipulated and transformed via Rabelais’ own software. The end result is something incredibly haunting, eerie, melancholy, and quite beautiful. Via
