Watch Slowdive’s Lovely Performance for Seattle’s KEXP

Proof that Slowdive’s lush shoegaze pop holds up perfectly well outside studio walls.

Sometimes I still find it hard to believe that Slowdive, arguably my favorite band of all time, not only released a new album after twenty years, but that the album turned out to be as gorgeous as I could’ve hoped for. In addition to releasing a new album, the band has performed numerous concerts, proving that their lush shoegaze pop holds up perfectly well outside studio walls.

Case in point, this October 25 performance for Seattle’s KEXP that was released earlier today. The thirty-two minute video really is Slowdive at their finest, featuring an absolutely gorgeous rendition of “Slomo,” a spacier version of the already spacey “Star Roving,” a blistering performance of “Crazy for You,” and ending with a haunting take of “Sugar for the Pill” (one of my favorite songs from 2017).
